Singers/Parents/Boosters/Supporters/Friend:
How do you put into words the excitement you feel about something you set as a goal for yourself and your program and now to see it come to fruition? You can't! So this email will be my weak attempt.
Yesterday afternoon I received the long-awaited letter inviting CHORALE WOMEN to perform at the 2011 ACDA National Conference in Chicago, Illinois!! Different from our Regional ACDA experience, we will do two performances--one at Roosevelt University in their Auditorium Theatre, and another in Orchestra Hall--home of the famed Chicago Symphony and so many great performances. It is thrilling just to think we will bring our art to that stage!!
So you can get your calendars marked in advance--here is what I know:
Friday, March 11 12:40-1:00 pm--Soundcheck in Orchestra Hall 6:20-6:40 pm--Soundcheck in Auditorium Theatre
Saturday, March 12 8:30 am--PERFORMANCE @ Orchestra Hall 1:30 pm--PERFORMANCE @ Auditorium Theatre
I have no other info than that. Except I know we will FLY to Chicago--no long coach ride for me!!
I would love to depart early enough (Wednesday) to maybe get in another performance in the Chicago area. I'm sure we can make that happen. Looks like Journey 2011 has its destination set!!
I am so blessed and grateful for the opportunity to work, play, and grow at DA. I LOVE to learn!! I am a competitive and passionate spirit and I do love to push myself and my students. I believe it is ALWAYS worth the journey even if the destination seems out of reach. Well--this time it wasn't and we can truly celebrate. Remember--our success is a testimony to the work of others who have gone before and those who strive to walk in their shoes while creating their own footprints. It is something EVERYONE in the Vocal Department needs to take great pride in. You are part this.
Let us remember two important things: Stay humble, yet growing in our confidence Let's be the most respected and respectful department at DA
Enjoy the summer and I love all of you!!
Be blessed!! Mr. Clayton |
